Seventh-day Adventists share with all Christians faith in Jesus Christ as Savior. The name "Adventists" comes from lat. Adventus (arrival) and refers to the fact that Adventists are waiting for Jesus to come back as he promised. "Seventh-day" adventists emphasized that the seventh day (Sabbath) is celebrated as a day of rest. The beliefs of the seventh-day Adventists are based on the Bible, which is regarded as the inspired foundation of faith.
Jesus Christus
... is our Lord and Savior. He lives from eternity together with God the Father. To save us, he became man. He lived among us, died on the cross, rose from the dead on the third day, and returned to the heavenly world. There he acts as advocate and advocate of the people. He saved us and reconciled us once and for all with God (John 3:16, 17).
The future
... this world is in his hand. Jesus kept saying that he would return. He also predicted certain signs that point to the end of the world (Matthew 24, 2 Timothy 3: 1-5). We believe in the testimony of the New Testament that Jesus Christ will be personal, visible, and at the same time for all people. (Revelation 1: 7, 1 Thessalonians 4:16, 17).
The resurrection
... is connected with the coming of Jesus Christ. When he comes, everyone who believes in him will be created anew in the resurrection. Thus God's purpose is realized: New men are to live on a new earth (John 5: 28,29).
The Bible
... contains everything worth knowing about Jesus Christ and salvation. The Old Testament already predicts its coming; The New Testament bears witness to what he said and did. In the Bible we learn who Jesus really is. Thus it is the only foundation for faith and life (2 Peter 1:21).
Baptism
... is the beginning of a new life with Christ. He who has realized that he needs Jesus Christ and turns to him, experiences how God changes his life. The confession of a life with Christ takes place in baptism by immersion. It has a profound meaning: as Jesus Christ died and rose on the third day, a man will be buried in the water when he is submerged and rise to a new life with Jesus Christ (Romans 6: 3-7). It is a belief that is performed by young people or adults at their own request.
The Ten Commandments
... have been explained and deepened by Jesus in the sermon on the mount. Keeping the commandments can not save us. But whoever follows Jesus Christ, who wants to live as a Christian, for him they are eternal, unalterable standards of his action. The ten commandments show what is right and wrong. God gives us the power of letting go of evil and doing good through Christ and through the Holy Spirit (1 John 5: 2-4).
The seventh day
... is the day of rest (Hebrew: Sabbath). Today we live in a world of hustle and bustle. God gave us a day when we come to rest, to keep a retreat with ourselves, to meet God, and to have time for our fellows. By celebrating the seventh day of God's blessing, we recognize God as Creator (Genesis 2: 1-3, Exodus 20: 8-11) and follow the example given by Jesus and the apostles themselves (Luke 4.16, Matthew 24:20, Acts 18: 18-11).
