Department of German as a Foreign Language (DaF)
For students whose mother tongue is not German, a successfully completed German examination is a prerequisite for admission to the regular four-year theology program. The German examination must correspond to the level of the B1 examination of the Austrian Language Diploma (ÖSD) or an equivalent degree from the Goethe Institute. The Austrian Language Diploma is a state-recognized language qualification which qualifies for linguistic admission to European universities and colleges. Information can be obtained from the DaF office at Bogenhofen. The Department DAF of the Institute of Languages at the Theological Seminar Bogenhofen is the official examination center of the ÖSD.
The DaF department runs a 6-week intensive course, which takes place every year from mid-June to the end of July. However, a thorough preparation for the B1 examination of the Austrian language diploma takes place during the course of the year. The annual course takes place during three trimesters of 11 weeks from the middle of September to the beginning of June.
Further requirements and details on the acquisition of the German language can be found at Sprachinstitut - Abteilung DaF.
