Herrenchiemsee - Bavarian sea

Our last trip to Chiemsee ( or Bavarian sea ) was the last piece for the chain of our trips. The last two months we have visited various places in Austria and Germany. It was marked by the bad weather, so we thought we wouldn't enjoy it. However the sea was beautiful therefore we were no longer discontent.

First we took a ship in order to get to the island. On the way we could enjoy the view of beautiful nature, especially the mountains. After we arrived, we visited the Herrenchiemsee. This castle was built by Ludwig II. the king of Bavaria. He wanted to create a new Versailles and I think he was successfull. However the castle was never finished, because of bad economy situation.
In front of the castle we saw the beautiful garden with lots of fountains and waterworks. When we went through the monumental gate, it was fascinating. Inside we had a museum tour. Lots of luxury and fortune were shown, inside of the castle there is also placed “the most expensive bedroom in Europe” which was built as an hommage for Ludwig IVX. Unfortunately this bed has never been used till today!
I think the grace of this castle consists in the detail works and luxury of this place. Also the gold hall of the mirrors was fascinating to me.
Finally we’ve got a train back to Bogi and most importantly as soon as we arrived we had supper. ;-)
